We opened in 2011 in a former print works with 120 units and a borrowed forklift. Today the same building holds 640 units over two floors, and the same family still runs reception.
Why a storage building, of all things
The print works closed in 2009 and sat empty for two years. We bought it because it was dry, solid and a short drive from the M1, and because nobody in town offered storage that was clean enough to put a mattress in without worrying.
The units are steel-partitioned rooms inside the original brick shell, which is why they stay dry and hold a steady temperature. We added the mezzanine in 2016 and the drive-up units along the yard in 2020, when trades started asking for somewhere to back a van up to.
What we try to get right
Prices you can see before you ring. A first month you are not locked into beyond. A building that is swept every morning. And someone at reception who will help you get a wardrobe into the lift.
